The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has disclosed that the idea of the newly introduced Ashanti Festival—Ashanti Fest—was inspired by a conversation with the youth of the region following the general cleanup exercise held on March 6, 2025.
According to the Minister, a group of young people approached him shortly after the exercise, inquiring about activities planned for the Easter season.
Their curiosity and enthusiasm sparked the development of what has now become Ashanti Fest, an initiative aimed at celebrating the region’s culture while driving economic and social development.
Dr. Amoakohene emphasised that Ashanti Fest is not merely a cultural event but a strategic initiative designed to project the region onto a greater pedestal.
He noted that the festival is expected to boost tourism, stimulate business activities, and enhance all sectors of the local economy.
“This festival is meant to position the Ashanti Region as a hub of innovation, creativity, and opportunity,” he added.
Ashanti Fest features a variety of events including cultural displays, music and arts showcases, business exhibitions, and youth-focused initiatives, all geared toward uniting communities and highlighting the region’s rich heritage.
