Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection and Member of Parliament for Krowor, has shared a more personal side of herself, revealing how she relaxes away from her busy political life.

In an interview with Ghana Weekend on May 7, she explained that though her schedule leaves little time for a social life, she makes a conscious effort to find quiet moments for herself.

“Sometimes, I have to make the conscious effort to have a social life, but I don’t have much of it,” she said. “In my quiet moments, I want to read, I want to watch TV, anything interesting. After all the hustles in our political lives, I don’t want to go home to listen to anything politics again.”

To unwind, she enjoys watching lighthearted shows like telenovelas and comedies, though she admitted she’s not the best at telling jokes herself.

“If I start these jokes, I will laugh it all off, and by the time I finish, you have nothing to laugh about,” she said, laughing.

She also shared her love for romantic films and classic soul music. “For music, I like the cools, I like the soul music. Sometimes, when you listen, you’d think I’m doing worship with the likes of Judy Boucher,” she said. “I’m old fashioned, please forgive me. I like to dance, but I don’t usually follow trends.”

Naa Momo Lartey described herself as someone who does things in her own time and style. “Sometimes, I do the things before they are in vogue, or I do them afterwards. So, I don’t conform easily. I like to understand why I do the things—they have to suit me,” she added.
