2020 death prediction by Dada KD resurfaces after his demise

The Ghanaian music industry is grappling with the shocking death of highlife stalwart Dada KD, whose passing over the weekend has revived a haunting statement he made in 2020—one that appears to have foreshadowed his own death.

In a social media post dated May 3, 2020, following the death of actor Bishop Bernard Nyarko, Dada KD wrote:

“May your gentle soul find you a perfect place to keep you Bishop Bernard Nyarko. My regards to Kofi B and tell him it won’t be long I’ll join you all too soon. Our industry sucks.”

At the time, the post stirred controversy, and fans expressed concern over his mental and emotional state. Dada KD later clarified that he had no suicidal intentions but felt deeply disillusioned with the state of the music industry.

“I’m not going to kill myself,” he told Peace FM in an interview. “But the way I have suffered in this industry for the past 11 years, only death can save me.”

Five years later, on May 16, 2025, Dada KD—born Nana Kwaku Duah—collapsed suddenly at his residence. After being turned away by three hospitals due to a lack of doctors, he died at the Gbawe SDA Hospital in Accra, aged 56.

The resurfacing of his 2020 post has prompted reflection among fans and industry stakeholders, with many describing it as a “chilling prophecy.” The parallels between his words and his untimely death have added a poignant twist to an already devastating loss.

Dada KD is fondly remembered for his timeless hits such as *Odo Mu Anigye*, *Fatia Fata Nkrumah*, *Me Wura*, and *Ebeboawo*. His legacy is one of emotional depth, lyrical prowess, and an unwavering passion for Ghanaian highlife music.

As tributes flood in from across the nation and overseas, many are left wondering whether Dada KD saw something in 2020 that others didn’t—or if his words were simply a tragic expression of frustration that fate later fulfilled.
