Ghanaian rapper Amerado has confessed that his music career was born out of necessity rather than passion, revealing he doesn’t always enjoy being an artiste.

In an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz on Monday June 2, he discussed the challenges of life in the spotlight.

“The main reason I got into music was to survive, I just wanted to eat,” he admitted. “Most of the time, I don’t even enjoy being an artiste.”

Amerado highlighted the constraints of fame as a major factor dampening his enthusiasm, particularly the constant expectation to give money to fans in public, such as during traffic stops.

“I feel restricted,” he said. “Whenever you’re in public, especially in traffic, you’re expected to hand out money to fans.”

Despite these struggles, Amerado finds joy in performing on stage, where he feels a genuine connection with his audience and sees the impact of his music.

“The maintenance no be easy,” he added, underscoring the relentless demands of his career.

When asked about an alternative path, Amerado shared that he would have pursued football if music hadn’t become his lifeline.
