Trinidadian rapper, singer, and songwriter Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, known professionally as Nicki Minaj
has once again proven she’s not one to hold back.
She took to X (formerly Twitter) with a series of unfiltered posts targeting music mogul Jay-Z, Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, and even fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
The catalyst? A reported fallout over her involvement in Jay-Z’s streaming platform, TIDAL.
According to Nicki, she owned a 3% stake in the company and was allegedly short changed when TIDAL was sold. In a bold accusation, she claimed she only received $1 million, despite believing her share was worth somewhere between $100–$200 million. Nicki says she intends to take legal action, and if she’s awarded anything, she plans to donate the funds to her #StudentOfTheGame initiative, a project aimed at supporting her fan base.
But she didn’t stop there.
Minaj also accused Roc Nation of shady business dealings, criticising the label and its top executive, Desiree Perez, for what she described as the “downfall of real hip-hop.”
Without naming at first, she shared cryptic posts and screenshots that seemed to reference Megan Thee Stallion’s legal battles. One post in particular read: “What was the name of that law again… Karma’s Law?” sending fans into speculation mode.
Perhaps the most controversial post came when she reposted online accusations aimed at Perez involving past legal issues, and even hinted at unresolved drama surrounding Jay-Z’s private life.
A Storm or a Strategy?
While many saw the tweets as a meltdown, others believe Nicki is making a calculated move to take control of her narrative and fight for her financial stake in an industry known for its lack of transparency.
She also hinted at a possible platform switch, reposting an offer from streamer Adin Ross to join Kick, a rising competitor to YouTube and Twitch, with a promise of equity in return.
Social Media Reacts
As expected, X exploded with reactions. Some fans praised her courage for “standing up to giants,” while critics accused her of airing dirty laundry for clout. The timing of her posts, shortly after Megan Thee Stallion’s court wins and Beyoncé’s tour buzz, only added fuel to the fire.
The Bigger Picture
Nicki Minaj’s latest rant isn’t just celebrity gossip, it’s a reflection of deeper tensions in the music industry. From questions of artist ownership to old beefs resurfacing, she’s peeled back the curtain on some of the most powerful players in entertainment.
For now, the world is watching to see whether her claims lead to lawsuits, business shakeups, or simply another chapter in hip-hop’s most unpredictable storyline.
