R&B singer Trey Songz is currently under police investigation following an alleged violent altercation with a photographer in New York City early Sunday morning.
According to initial reports, the photographer who had reportedly just been discharged from hospital was hired to shoot an event where Trey Songz was performing.
The venue’s owner had reportedly instructed the photographer to document the performance, and it is alleged that Trey was aware of this arrangement.
A dispute reportedly broke out between the singer and the photographer, with eyewitness video capturing part of the confrontation.
Sources claim that Trey grew frustrated by repeated requests for photos and videos, which escalated tensions at the venue, known as The Ivy.
In response, Trey Songz’s team has denied the allegations and criticised the media’s portrayal of events, calling it “clickbait,” “lazy,” and “unfair.” In a statement, his team said the incident was the result of “an increasingly aggressive paparazzi presence” that invaded Trey’s personal space and created a volatile environment. They stressed that this is part of a broader pattern affecting many artists today.
The investigation remains ongoing.
