The Asantehene has officially announced that the final funeral rites for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III, will take place from Monday, September 14 to Wednesday, September 18, 2025.
As part of preparations, a ban has been placed on all funerals across the Asante Kingdom from September 1 until after the burial.
The burial will be held on the evening of September 18. On that day, residents are expected to stay indoors, while all shops and markets in Kumasi and surrounding areas will remain closed.
Meanwhile, prominent Ghanaian leaders, including former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, today Thursday August 21 joined the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to mourn the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III.
The leaders, accompanied by high-ranking government officials and dignitaries, converged at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to participate in the one-week observance of the late queen mother, who died on August 7, 2025, at the age of 98.
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang, who led a delegation including the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Julius Debrah, and the Chief of Staff at the Vice President’s Office, Alex Segbefia, signed the Book of Condolence on behalf of the government and the people of Ghana.
The one-week observance was held at the Manhyia Palace, where traditional rituals and homage were paid in honour of the late queen mother, who was the daughter of the 13th Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem III.
The solemn event drew mourners from across the country, including traditional leaders, political figures, and citizens of Asanteman, all paying their respects and offering condolences to the Asantehene and the royal family.
