Drake has once again made headlines in the hip-hop world, this time for acquiring one of rap’s most prized artifacts — Tupac Shakur’s original Death Row Records pendant.
The Canadian superstar revealed the piece on August 24, 2025, posting detailed images on Instagram that showcased the iconic chain engraved with the words “All Eyez on YOU 1996.”
The pendant, worn by Tupac during the All Eyez On Me era, has long been considered one of the most recognizable symbols of his time with Death Row Records. For years, it remained in private collections, but Swedish collector Alexander Bitar confirmed that he recently sold the historic jewelry to Drake. A photo later surfaced of Bitar standing with Drake, the pendant in hand, effectively putting to rest speculation about its authenticity.
Although the official sale price has not been disclosed, experts estimate the piece to be worth between $500,000 and $1 million, placing it among the most valuable items of hip-hop memorabilia. This acquisition follows Drake’s 2023 purchase of Tupac’s ruby- and diamond-encrusted crown ring at a Sotheby’s auction, which fetched over $1 million.
Fans have been quick to react online, with some praising Drake for preserving hip-hop history, while others argue that such artifacts should remain in museums rather than private collections. Either way, the pendant’s return to the spotlight underscores the lasting cultural weight of Tupac’s legacy nearly three decades after his death.
For Drake, the purchase cements his reputation not only as one of the genre’s biggest stars but also as a custodian of its history — a role few artists of his stature have embraced so openly.
