Ghana’s first Hair & Heritage Hub has been opened in Accra as a space to explore the cultural meaning of African hair.
The centre, established by We Naturals, is designed to provide learning opportunities, wellness support, and conversations around natural hair as part of preserving traditions.

Unlike a salon, the Hub focuses on education and heritage. It hosts interactive sessions, demonstrations, and cultural dialogues aimed at helping individuals and families understand the history and practices surrounding African hair. Visitors also receive materials to document their experiences and learning.

Dorinda Mawuenya Quashie, founder of We Naturals, said the aim is to create a place “where caring for African hair goes hand in hand with remembering the stories and traditions behind it.”

The initiative adds to ongoing conversations about the role of hair in identity and heritage, and seeks to create a community space where cultural knowledge can be shared across generations.
