The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has stressed that this year’s December in Ghana celebration will push boundaries of creativity, culture, and collaboration as the country once again welcomes the world home for the festive season.

Speaking at the launch of “December in Accra 2025” held at the Banquet Hall of the Jubilee House, she described the annual celebration as “a cultural movement, an economic driver, and a creative footprint that continues to shape Ghana’s global identity.”

“We’re telling our story louder, celebrating our creativity bolder, and welcoming the world home once again,” she said.

“Our focus for December in GH 2025 is clear , innovation, inclusivity, and impact. We are deepening collaboration with the private sector, enhancing destination branding, and ensuring that this season delivers sustainable growth for the communities and creatives who make it possible.”

Organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in partnership with the Black Star Experience and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, December in GH has grown into one of Africa’s biggest festive movements, drawing thousands of visitors from across the diaspora each year.

The 2025 calendar is packed with exciting cultural, musical, and culinary events across the country.

Among the highlights, The Matriarch’s Verse Experience will run from 1st to 6th December, taking place at the British Council, National Theatre, and Aguma Tea and Herbs. The SHE Rhythms Festival Ghana, which celebrates women in music, will also take place from 4th to 6th December at Alliance Française and +233 Jazz Pub and Grill.

Food lovers can look forward to the African Food Festival on 5th December at Bunso Eco Park, and the Ghana Food Festival 2025 on 5th and 6th December at Untamed Empire. The Made in Ghana Fair and Ayewa Festival, both on 5th December, will take place at the National Theatre Forecourt and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park respectively.

The celebrations continue with the Diaspora Summit 2025 on 19th and 20th December at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) and Palms Convention Center, bringing together Africans from the continent and beyond for dialogue and collaboration.

On 25th December, the Around the World Food & Drinks Festival takes over GHUD Park, while the Roverman Festival of Plays runs from 25th to 28th December at the National Theatre.

The grand finale will see the AfroFuture Festival , a world-renowned celebration of African music, art, and fashion — light up El Wak Sports Stadium on 28th December, followed by the AfroFuture PVO New Year’s Eve Party at Labadi Beach Hotel on 31st December.

Over the years, December in GH has evolved into more than just a festive calendar. It’s now a global showcase of Ghana’s creativity, energy, and identity — a season where culture meets business, and where Ghana truly shines.
