The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Business School has held a health walk as part of its annual breast cancer awareness campaign.

The initiative, organised by the GIMPA Business Students Association (GBSA), was aimed at educating the public on the importance of early detection and regular screening for breast cancer.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Friday October 24, the president of the association, Oheneyere Nana Serwaa Asafo Adjei, explained that while the school has consistently organised awareness programmes in previous years, this year’s edition included a health walk to intensify public engagement.

“We have been doing this programme every year, but this time, we decided to add a health walk to create more awareness and let people know that breast cancer is real — and that early detection saves lives,” she said.

She also emphasised the importance of self-awareness and regular check-ups among women.

“We want every woman in Ghana to know that breast cancer is real. As we give love to others, we must also love ourselves enough to pay attention to our bodies. If you notice any unusual changes, report early — because early detection saves lives,” she advised.

According to Mrs Asafo Adjei, past editions of the initiative have featured educational talk shows, free breast cancer screening, and health consultations, all of which have been successful in promoting women’s health within the GIMPA community and beyond.

She expressed appreciation to the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Fire Service, and Ghana Ambulance Service for their collaboration and presence during the event.

She also extended gratitude to media personality Stacy Amoateng who supported and led the walk, as well as to all participants who contributed to making the programme a success.

The health walk and screening event form part of the GIMPA Business School’s efforts to promote wellness and social responsibility among students and the wider community.
