The Kumasi High Court has approved plans for the final funeral rites of legendary highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, widely known as Daddy Lumba to proceed on December 6, 2025 as earlier announced by his family.
This follows the court’s dismissal of an interlocutory injunction filed by his wife Akosua Serwaa who had sought to halt the arrangements.
She argued that the extended family should be prevented from going ahead with the funeral until certain personal and customary issues were resolved.
Delivering the ruling on Tuesday, October 28, Presiding Judge Dorinda Smith Arthur stated that, under Ghanaian customary law, the right to oversee the funeral and burial of a deceased person rests with the family.
The court held that granting the injunction would not be in the best interest of the family or the public.
“The application for interlocutory injunction is hereby refused,” the judge ruled.
With the court’s decision, preparations for Daddy Lumba’s final funeral rites are expected to continue without further legal obstruction.
