Ghanaian gospel musician Frank Tagoe, popularly known as Perez Musik, has voiced concern over how Ghana’s current economic challenges are affecting the spiritual lives of young people.
Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio on Monday, October 27, the “Kaafo” hitmaker said many young people are struggling to maintain a strong connection with God due to financial pressures and unemployment.
According to him, the daily struggles for survival have made it difficult for the youth to stay committed to church and spiritual growth.
“One thing that’s making it difficult for them to worship is hunger,” Perez Musik said.
He noted that the high cost of living and lack of opportunities have left many young people prioritizing survival over spirituality.
Perez Musik, who is known for inspiring worship songs like Blema Tesaa and Hewale Lala, urged churches and society to pay more attention to the physical and emotional needs of young people alongside their spiritual growth.
“The church must not only focus on preaching and singing but also look at how to support the youth materially and emotionally,” he advised.
The award-winning gospel artiste believes that when the church becomes more responsive to the realities young people face, it will help restore their faith and encourage deeper worship.
