The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Dzifa Abla Gomashie has reiterated government’s commitment to expanding Ghana’s events and conference infrastructure to support both the creative arts and business tourism sectors.
Speaking during an interview on Citi Eyewitness News on Tuesday January 13, the Minister revealed that plans are underway to develop a 5,000-capacity facility designed to host major entertainment events and international conferences.
According to her, the absence of adequate large-scale conference venues continues to limit Ghana’s ability to compete for high-profile conferences and conventions.
“We are pushing for a 5,000 capacity for entertainment and conferences. We are not able to push conferences here because we don’t have the facility,” she stated.
Minister Gomashie noted that strengthening conference infrastructure is critical to positioning Ghana as a preferred destination for meetings, conferences and exhibitions, while also providing world-class platforms for local and international entertainment events.
She added that the proposed facility forms part of a broader vision to grow tourism revenues, create jobs, and enhance Ghana’s standing within the global tourism and creative economy.
