A 27-year-old Maryland man charged with murder is set to be extradited back to Maryland after being arrested in the U.S. state of Virginia.
Dayton James Webber, of La Plata, Maryland, was taken into custody in Albemarle County, Virginia, on Monday, March .
He later appeared in court on Thursday, March 26, where it was confirmed that he will be returned to Maryland to face multiple charges, including first and second-degree murder.
The charges are linked to the fatal shooting of Bradrick Michael Wells, also 27, of Waldorf, Maryland.
According to investigators, the incident occurred on Sunday, March 22, 2026, inside a vehicle in Charles County, Maryland.
Authorities say Webber was travelling in the car with the victim and two other passengers when an argument broke out.
Police allege that the dispute escalated, and Webber shot Wells during the confrontation.
Two passengers who were in the back seat reportedly witnessed the shooting.
They are said to have refused to assist in any attempt to move the body and later escaped from the situation before contacting law enforcement.
Their statements helped authorities quickly identify Webber as the prime suspect.

Investigators say James Webber allegedly drove away with the victim’s body still in the vehicle.
The body was later discovered in a residential yard in Maryland, prompting further police action.
Following the incident, Webber was located at a hospital in Virginia, where he was arrested without incident.
Webber is a quadruple amputee who lost all four limbs in infancy due to a severe infection. He is also known publicly as a cornhole player, a background that has drawn additional attention to the case.
Authorities have indicated that the motive for the shooting remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing. Webber is expected to face formal legal proceedings in Maryland once extradition is completed.
