Arathejay has broken his silence following the omission of his ‘Odyssey’ album from the Album of the Year category at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, saying he remains grateful and focused despite the controversy.
Speaking in an interview with Onua TV, the musician emphasised faith, gratitude, and consistency in his journey.
“We thank God for everything that has happened. It is said in the word that we should be grateful for whatever happens… because of this issue, there are people who may not have known about Arathejay who will now be questioning and asking who he is,” he said.
Arathejay noted that while awards are important, they are not the sole measure of success.
“We know as a team we are doing our very best. Awards are part of it and important, but we are always working. We are still working on our next project, and whether it gets nominated or not, we will keep working.”
Despite missing out on the Album of the Year category, the artiste still secured three nominations at this year’s TGMA: Best Music Video for “Put Am on God,” Best Reggae/Dancehall Song for “Talisman,” and Best Hiplife Song for his feature on Ko-Jo Cue’s “Tontonte.”
His comments come in the wake of public debate over the exclusion of ‘Odyssey’ from the Album of the Year nominations.
Fans and industry watchers have questioned the decision, with many expressing surprise at the snub.
The artiste’s management has since filed a formal petition to the TGMA board seeking clarification on the matter. However, as of now, no official response has been issued.
Despite the uncertainty, Arathejay’s message remains clear: the journey continues, with or without accolades.
