Former National Dance champion and dance scholar Dr Bright Terry Ofosu has opened up about the joy and fulfilment he derives from teaching dance, describing it as both a passion and a rewarding career.
Speaking on Breakfast Daily on Channel One TV with Chris Kata on Friday, April 17, the choreographer and lecturer at the University of Ghana shared his personal experience of life in the classroom.
When asked what it is like teaching dance, Ofosu said the experience goes beyond work for him.
“For me, I think it’s fulfilling. I love dancing. I have grown up a dancer, and so teaching becomes something like a leisure activity for me. I walk into the class and I just flow,” he said.
According to him, there is a unique satisfaction in building a career around something one is deeply passionate about.
“There’s nothing so fulfilling as doing something that you love as your career and you’re being paid for it,” he added.
Ofosu also highlighted the dynamic and engaging nature of working with students, noting that their diverse personalities make the teaching experience even more exciting.
“It’s exciting working with students and having all kinds of students—those who are crazy, those who are normal, those who are docile, those who are all over the place and what have you. So it’s very exciting,” he said.
Bright Terry Ofosu is widely respected for his contribution to dance education and performance in Ghana, transitioning from a celebrated national champion to an academic shaping the next generation of performers.
