R&B singer Ray J sat down on Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast on April 24 and dropped a claim that has since taken over the internet: he has slept with 12,500 different women. Not 12,500 encounters.
Twelve thousand, five hundred different people.
He didn’t stumble into the number either. He owned it.
The 45-year-old brother of singer Brandy, who is widely known for his 2003 sex tape with Kim Kardashian, told Newton he had already been tracking the milestone closely enough to throw a party when he hit 10,000.
A party, he says, at the Booby Trap club, with 400 to 500 women in attendance. “It was a massive parade,” he said.
Newton, to his credit, did not just nod along. He pulled out the arithmetic on the spot, noting that Ray J’s claimed total would require him to have averaged more than one and a half women per day for thirty consecutive years.
Ray J’s answer was immediate: “The math is different because when we’re on tour, we’re thinking five to ten a day.”
He also claims that around 3,500 of those encounters involved three or more people at once.
Newton said his own number “wouldn’t even scratch 1,000.” Ray J didn’t believe him.
There is, of course, no way to verify any of this. No records, no receipts, no independent confirmation, just a man on a podcast, confident in his arithmetic.
What makes it strange is what came next. After all of it, Ray J turned around and said that his estranged wife, actress Princess Love, mother of his two children, remains incomparable to anyone else.
“Nobody” can match her, he said. “She’s a great mom. She has my kids. She deserves it.”
Whether the numbers are true, exaggerated, or pure performance, Ray J has achieved exactly what a podcast appearance is designed to do: everyone is talking about it.
