Black Sherif has been crowned Artiste of the Year at the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), marking the second time he has won the prestigious honour after first claiming it in 2023.
The “Kwaku The Traveller” hitmaker, popularly known as Blacko, entered this year’s awards with the highest number of nominations — nine in total — and ended the night with five awards.
His wins included Songwriter of the Year for “Sacrifice,” Album of the Year for “Iron Boy,” Best Afropop Song for “Sacrifice,” Best Hip-Hop Song for “Where Dem Boyz,” and the ultimate Artiste of the Year award.
Black Sherif beat competition from top Ghanaian acts, including Stonebwoy, Medikal, Wendy Shay, Sarkodie, and Diana Hamilton, in the highly competitive category.

Speaking after receiving the award, an emotional Black Sherif expressed gratitude to his fans, organisers and sponsors.
“In the name of the true and living God, the most merciful, the most compassionate. We are Artiste of the Year again. Yes, sir.”
He also thanked the sponsors and said his prize money and rewards would be shared among members of his team.
“We won the GH¢100K for musician AratheJay and then the listening for Gona Boy. We share the money and the listening for here right now,” he added.
Black Sherif further appreciated his fans for their continuous support throughout his journey.
“Thank you so much to my people. I appreciate you guys man! I tell you guys every day. God bless you. And thank you to everybody who listened.”
