Public Relations Officer for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), Robert Klah, has responded to concerns over the bad sound that occurred during the recently held 27th edition, saying discussions around the issue require a broader perspective.
Speaking in an interview with Hitz FM on Thursday, May 14, Klah reacted to complaints from viewers and fans who raised concerns about audio disruptions during some performances at the awards show.
Some audiences reported instances where microphones appeared low or inactive on stage, while television and online viewers also experienced sound interruptions.
Addressing the issue, Klah emphasised that audiences experienced the event differently depending on the platform through which they followed the show.
“I think that for sound, we need to be able to have a 360 view about it,” he said.
According to him, the sound inside the auditorium largely met expectations despite a few isolated challenges.
“There is sound that’s coming from the auditorium basically and I think that for the most part, we were all happy about it except for some portions and patches,” he explained.
Klah noted that feedback received so far suggests the sound concerns were more prominent among online viewers and across some broadcast platforms.
“I think the comments I’ve heard usually are tied to what was happening online,” he stated, adding that organisers are still assessing exactly where the problem originated.
Despite the backlash, Klah maintained that the glitches represented only a small percentage of the overall production concerns.
Sound quality became one of the major talking points following the 27th TGMA, with several viewers taking to social media to express disappointment over interruptions experienced during portions of the broadcast, including some performances.
