The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Setor Dumelo, has unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at making the FIFA World Cup more accessible and enjoyable for residents of his constituency.
In a post shared on X on Thursday, June 11, the MP announced that free public viewing centres will be set up across several communities to enable residents to watch Ghana’s matches together during the tournament.
According to Dumelo, DSTV subscriptions have already been paid for in selected viewing centres to ensure uninterrupted live broadcasts of the games.
The initiative will feature giant screens at key locations, including the Abelemkpe Astro Turf Park, Okponglo, Mempasem, Airport Residential Area, West Legon, and Dzorwulu.
While some centres will show all World Cup matches, all designated venues will broadcast Ghana’s games.
Beyond the viewing experience, the legislator also disclosed a food support programme designed to benefit both football fans and local vendors.
As part of the initiative, 13 kenkey sellers within the constituency will distribute free kenkey and fish to supporters during Ghana’s matches.
Dumelo said the programme is intended to foster community spirit, create a shared national experience, and support small businesses within the constituency during the tournament.
