Upper East musician Fasetwo is targeting collaborations with some of Ghana’s established artistes as he seeks to expand his audience beyond the northern part of the country.
The musician has identified KiDi and Wendy Shay as two artistes he would like to collaborate with, saying such projects could help him reach new audiences in Ghana and neighbouring Burkina Faso.
Fasetwo, whose real name is Godwin Abakuri Bazentum, said he has already begun discussions with some major artistes in Accra and is hoping to secure the collaborations before returning to the North.
He said he particularly connects with KiDi’s style of music, while Wendy Shay represents an artiste from the female side of the industry with whom he would also welcome a collaboration.
“I resonate with his kind of style of music,” Fasetwo said of KiDi.
The musician believes collaborations with established Ghanaian acts could be particularly useful in his efforts to strengthen his presence in Burkina Faso, where he says his music already enjoys support.
According to him, the artistes he hopes to work with also have strong followings across the border, creating the potential for a joint project to reach audiences beyond their individual fanbases.
“I know the artists that I’m looking at featuring are artists that even as far as Burkina Faso they love them,” he said.
Fasetwo has been active in music for nearly 17 years and has built a name for himself through both performing and music production.
He has won the Upper East Music Awards Artiste of the Year twice consecutively and has also received awards for Producer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year.
As he works on new collaborations, Fasetwo is also encouraging listeners unfamiliar with his music to explore his catalogue despite the language barrier.
He believes the rhythm and messages in his music can connect with audiences beyond his traditional northern fanbase.
