Gospel singer, Obaapa Christy, has explained why she decided to quit school at the basic level to concentrate on pursuing a career in music.
According to her, she already knew that she would not be able to pass her Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and thus decided not to write the papers.
She admitted on Accra-based Rainbow Radio that even though she did not consider herself as a brilliant student, she liked Mathematics and Drawing.
She added that she sees education as an important journey and that she has plans of going back to school because after over 2 decades.
”However, I have come to discover that education is important. You need a positive mindset to succeed. If I had that positive mindset, I think I would have made it. But it is not too late. I will be going back to school. It is not too late to go back to school,” she said.
Obaapa Christy expressed her gratitude to God for helping her to become successful in her career in music despite her low level of education.
“If God only blessed people according to their level of education, I would not be where I am today. God gave me something, and that is what I have done all these years.”
Obaapa Christy has announced a special concert to mark her 20th anniversary in the gospel music scene.
The concert will be held at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) main auditorium on September 4, 2022.
