The launch of Miss Tourism Ghana 2024 took center stage on Friday, April 19, at the prestigious Tang Palace Hotel. This renowned beauty pageant, dedicated to celebrating Ghana’s rich and diverse cultures, embarked on its latest journey under the theme “Tourism as the Heart of Ghana, 15 years of promoting our cultural heritage and sustainable tourism.”
The event attracted a plethora of stakeholders from the tourism industry, all rallying behind the organization. Among the notable attendees were Mr. Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs of the Ghana Tourism Authority, and Abeiku Santana, alongside numerous other supporters who lent their presence to the cause.
Addressing the audience at the launch, CEO of the Miss Tourism Ghana Organisation, Mrs. Delphine Brew-Hammond, articulated the vision behind the pageant. She expressed her aspiration for a nation where young women are empowered, confident, and proud of their heritage, poised to lead with integrity in any sphere of influence.
Mrs. Brew-Hammond encouraged young women to seize the transformative opportunity presented by participating in this year’s pageant, emphasizing its potential to shape lives positively. She stated, “Through the pageant, we envision a country with inspired and confident young women who are proud of who they are, and groomed to positively lead wherever they find themselves.”
In a statement to the media, Mr. Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi elaborated on the significance of this year’s theme, “Tourism the Heart of Ghana,” underscoring the pivotal role Miss Tourism Ghana has played over the past 15 years. He emphasized the Ghana Tourism Authority’s commitment to leveraging the pageant as a platform to promote domestic tourism, fostering a deeper appreciation for Ghana’s cultural treasures.
Mr. Kusi stressed, “Miss Tourism has been able to sell local tourism for the past 15 years… The Ghana Tourism Authority uses every opportunity available to promote domestic tourism. Miss Ghana for the past 15 years has been able to sell Ghana in terms of tourism being the heart of Ghana.”
Highlighting the proactive approach of the Miss Tourism Ghana team, Mr. Kusi commended their efforts in actively engaging with communities and promoting local tourism initiatives. He underscored the pageant’s role in not only showcasing beauty but also in championing Ghana’s tourism sector, making it accessible and appealing to both locals and international visitors alike.
