The second edition of Ayeyi Ndwom Concert aimed at raising funds to support the aged is scheduled to take place at the Christ the King Parish Hall, Cantonments in Accra on Sunday, July 7.
Put together by the non-denominational music group, Heavenly Jewels, the 4 pm event will see performances from The Accra Symphony Orchestra and Ajumako Youth Choir.
In an interview with the Chairman of Heavenly Jewels, Mr David Agyefi-Mensah he said the desire to support the aged, who had no means of survival, pushed the group to organise Ayeyi Ndwom concert and it had been a good platform to raise funds to support the initiative.
“Everyone needs help one way or the other, especially when he or she is old, and we feel the time to show our old folks love is now,” he said.
According to Agyefi-Mensah, Help Age Ghana, a non-profit organisation for the aged, will bring 100 of its members to the programme who will be catered for on the night.
“We intend to make it a national event from next year and when that happens, the Northern Region will be our next destination because of how some of their cultures see old people as witches,” he said.
Mr David Agyefi urged Ghanaians to support the project by donating money, clothes, among others, to the group since that would go a long way to sustain the dream.
