Livingstone Etse Satekla, known in music circles as Stonebwoy has organised an empowerment programme for some people with disabilities.

The ‘Tomorrow’ hit maker in a Facebook post on Sunday that he spent time with some people who are ‘differently-abled’ to motivate them to do better in society.

The dance hall artiste in his posts urged all to pay attention to people with disabilties, stressing that everybody can a point in time experience any form of disability.

He also wrote that he offered the disabled present at his programme bead and soap making skills.

Stonebwoy was once involved in a car accident which claimed the life of his twin sibling. The accident rendered him disabled for a long period until he finally went through a successful surgery.

Stonebwoy through his Livingstone Foundation has lent support to some victims of road accidents.

Early this year, he donated an amount of GHc 5,000 and other items to patients at the accident ward of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Read his full post below:

Often when people think ‘disability’ their minds jump to people with physical disabilities such as those who use wheelchairs.

But disability refers to physical, intellectual, psychiatric and even learning disabilities So Disability is an inescapable human condition and at one point or another, almost every person is exposed to, and may experience temporal [sic] or permanent disability.

For too long, people with disabilities in the world have not been able to fulfill their potential due to stigmatization, exclusion, ignorance and lack of practical support.

Yesterday, I spent time with some persons with “physical” disabilities as a Christmas Empowerment Initiative put together by My foundation, THE LIVINGSTONE FOUNDATION (@tlf_ghana ) and AFEE AFRICA to spur attendees on that there’s no glass ceiling to pursuing their dreams.

Owing to the fact that the progress of enforcing disability policies have been frustratingly slow, it has to be made clear that unless every one of our citizens can reach their full potential our nations never will – because i passionately believe persons with disabilities constitute part of the overall talent pool in the country and should also be treated fairly in accessing social, economic and development opportunities.

Attendees were not only encouraged with words but also equipped with soap making and bead making skills amongst others.
