Ghanaian actor John Dumelo will be contesting for the parliamentary primaries at the Ayawaso West Wogon constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.
According to the party, four persons including the Ghanaian actor and the 2016 parliamentary candidate, Delali Kwasi Brempong have picked up nomination forms to contest in the elections.
Speaking to Citi News’ Fred Djabanor, the chairman of the National Democratic Congress in the Ayawaso Constituency Bismarck Aborbi Aryeetey, confirmed the news, adding that the party will work hard to win the seat.
“Currently four people have picked nomination forms. Our former DCE who contested in 2016, Delali Kwasi Brempong, and we have John Acquah and John Dumelo. I am told one gentleman called Ewenam has also picked a form,” he said.
The filing of nomination will be on Friday, 21 December 2018, vetting will be on Saturday, 22 December 2018 and elections on Friday, 28 December, 2018.
The bye election his been necessitated by the death of the MP, Emmanuel Agyarko.
The cost of nominations forms and filing fees is GH¢1,000 and GH¢10,000 respectively, with a 50 per cent discount on the filing fees for women and persons with disability.
John Dumelo has, for the past years, been a strong supporter and member of the National Democratic Congress and has shown publicly shown this in his activities on campaign platforms and social media.
Emmanuel Agyarko passed away on Wednesday, November 21 in the United States where he was flown to by his family for medical care.
