Some industry persons have produced lists of rappers they recognize as best rappers and it generated lots of controversies for days.
Well, today, rapper Joey B says to hell with all those lists; for him, only one person makes the list.
Speaking to Jay Foley on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM today, he named EL as the best rapper in Ghana.
According to him, no rapper comes close to EL in the whole of Ghana.
“EL is the best rapper in Ghana and it’s not even my opinion. If you really know music, EL is the best rapper in Ghana. Not M.anifest, not Sarkodie and I’m mentioning names because I’m very serious about it and I’m sure they even know it.
“EL is a very dangerous guy. Like a very extremely dangerous. He’s a producer, song writer, instrumentalist whatever, whatever, whatever, you name it, dangerous.”
He said his comment is borne out of the fact that he has been around EL for so long and knows he is the best at what he does.
“Because I’ve worked with him so much. I say this all the time and he E.L himself he doesn’t even believe it, like I actually learnt how to make choruses from EL [he went ahead to mention occasions on which he witnessed most of EL’s songs recording, including u go kill me, dangerous, obuu mo, kaalu]
“So I know what I’m talking about and I know you, [directed at Jay Foley] you yourself wey dey there you knowbut you don’t want to be biased whatever whatever, that’s fine but you and I know that E.L is the best rapper in Ghana and not because he is my friend, I’m also not trying to be biased but I just love music and I know rap. That’s it.”
EL, who won five awards including the ‘artiste of the year’ on the night of VGMA 2016, has been a little off the scene for quite some time now but Joey B believes he it’s just a phase and that he is just focusing on something and that EL is still the EL of the past.
