‘Don’t be late’ hitmaker, Kofi Mole has said on the Delay Show that he had to drop out of the University of Ghana, Legon because of hustling.
He said he used to help his half brother (and still goes whenever he needs money) to sell clothes, chains and footwears in Kantamanto to get money for his upkeep.
He, however, said both parents are abroad.
He recounted that he was in the university in 2012 to read Psychology, Philosophy and Religion for two years before dropping out.
When Delay asked why he stopped, he replied, “ I wanted to do music plus the things were selling those days took so much of my attention. When my fee for the semester is paid, I use the business to sustain myself in school so sometimes I choose to go sell at Kantamanto over being at lectures. Moreover, I wanted to do music because my colleagues whom I started with were progressing – getting gigs here and there so I wanted to join them”
He said he was a smart kid ever since he started school.
“From P1, I was a smart kid so my mum is still disappointed that I didn’t complete school cos I was a very grade A student. I was so enthused about school”
Touching on whether he just got up and decided to stop, he said the reasons piled up for a while before he finally gave up.
“It started from when I missed IAs (school assignments), quiz, end of semester exams. Something was taking me from school and eventually, I stopped.
“However, I deferred formally so I can go back. Anything can happen, I may go back” he said.
