Joey B today revealed on DayBreak Hitz the reasons for the misunderstanding between himself and Pappy Kojo some time ago.
He said Pappy became pompous and was acting funny which made him pull himself away.
According to him, the Fante Van Damme was listening to people more than concentrating on doing the good songs they were doing.
He also said they [Pappy and Joey] have songs that if released today will be hit but they have their separate priorities to attend to.
When Jay Foley asked if Pappy was being disrespectful, he replied, “yes he was actually”
“I withdraw, I am very quick to withdraw, if I see say you dey move funny I go withdraw. And I understand him because he’s a human being. Sometimes when you haven’t experienced or when you don’t have a taste certain things, it’s like a drug. They always say fame is like the worst drug to man. It’s like crack.
“I feel like he took more of a drug and then later on when the drug wore off he’s like ‘oh damn okay I was doing this wrong, oh my God I was doing this wrong‘, he stated.
He said although he warned Pappy against listening to people who would work at separating the two, he feels he did not take his words.
“There was just too many issues that I was hearing and people too were getting in his ears”
He said they almost considered being a group which would have been named ‘The New Lords’ but things just happened.
“It was just surreal. Everything that we were doing was fresh. Nothing was oh my God it was planned. Everything me and Pappy ever did was magic. Till this day, we still have so many songs that if we drop am today ego blow. I no go lie you,” he said.
When asked the group would have been called he responded “New Lords because we were the new lords. I was at that time having so many ideas of everything that’s going on with ‘Realer no’, ‘wave’, how we dress, how we present ourselves and everything happening cos he himself he didn’t even believe when I told him that we will be superstars. I always told him that you’ll be bigger than me but I still did it because I believed in him and it happened”
When asked if he would want to ever consider jumping back into a group with Pappy Kojo, he replied, “No but I’m sure maybe 1 or 2 songs but I’m not sure we will be a group. I don’t even want to be in a group.
“I’m a group. I rap, I sing. I have so many styles, I’m a group,” he concluded.
