Joseph Gamor known by the stage name Lyrical Joe or LJ in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz disclosed that he has not had a smooth life while growing up.
The rapper said he had to fend for himself with no support from parents and family because he lost both parents to an accident.
When the host asked if his parents listen to his songs, he replied, “no, I lost both my parents at a very young age. That’s when I was in the JHS so I had to drop out”.
“There was no family member to support so it’s being like me the pen and the paper and it’s straight,” he added.
When he was asked how he survived without any form of support, he said: “I kept writing and around that time, I went to JHS in Akosombo so I came back to Accra solely for the music because I had faith in what I was doing.”
“I believed that this is what I really want to do and since I lost my parents and it’s not like the support for education like that. I don’t know how far it’ll go so let me just look into this music and then see how far it’ll take me and music too, you need to be intelligent, you still need to be reading so even if you’re not in school, you know it’s just like we’re going at Cameroon right now you need to broadminded and inclined to be able so I realized that even if school is not there I should be reading, I should be knowing things,” he said.
[He narrated how come they were going at Cameroonians in some sort of ‘twitter banter’- Sarkodie was named among rappers in Africa contesting for BET and a Cameroon rapper who felt Sarkodie didn’t deserve the recognition said he was coming for Sarkodie and other rappers in a bar for bar battle and a twitter follower mentioned Lyrical Joe to come battle him in place of Sarkodie. But Sarkodie and the otther rappers did not reply. LJ went ahead to record a hot one titled ‘Dracarys’which was retweeted by Sarkodie and Edem and it pissed the Cameroonians].
