Word making rounds is that Kelvyn Boy is an arrogant artiste who has been ungrateful to his former boss, Stonebwoy and the Burniton Music Group.
Speaking to Andy Dosty on DayBreak Hitz today, Kelvyn Boy said it is wrong for people, especially Stonebwoy to label him ‘ungrateful’.
“Stonebwoy is my godfather. I was even a fan before I met Stonebwoy.Those who know me from time will tell. He has been a mentor, He’s been a mentor and my greatest hero and he’ll forever remain my greatest hero and my mentor. I appreciate whatever he did for me.
“And I thought I’ve been grateful over these years cos anyone out there who’ll say I’m ungrateful should go check out my old interviews from two years ago till now, everything is BHIM Nation BHIM Nation. Go to social media, check my handles, 2 years ago till now, everything I post is BHIM Nation BHIM Nation. Go to Youtube and check my old videos till now, everything is BHIM Nation BHIM Nation.”
He cited he was a backing vocalist for Stonebwoy for a long time and that in itself says a lot.
“I served for years, I’ve been backing here and there.”
“I think I’ve been grateful from time. In which other way do I show my appreciation? On social media, in my videos I think in my interviews, everywhere. I don’t know when and where I became ungrateful and the reason”
He does not seem to know the exact reason for which Stonebwoy would call him ungrateful but he recalled a time he made the wrong comment [probably].
“I think one reason I heard is the reggae dancehall thing and afrobeat thing I said. And that thing I said, I said it confidently because I picked it from him. I won’t come and disregard any other person. Maybe how I went about it was not good, I’m very sorry. I say sorry to every dancehall artiste out there but said that confidently because I thought he stands for that. He’s been saying that for years-he’s afro dancehall artiste. Maybe I went straight to the point but I was trying to mean let’s throw more light on afrobeat and I thought he was gonna back me cos he’s been saying that from time. But unfortunately it went wrong.
“He texted me that the way I spoke about thing next time I should watch and we vibe and I said okay next time I’ll watch. I accept that. Maybe I didn’t go about it well but I don’t think that is a reason enough to say I’m ungrateful. For that, I’ll take offense cos I thought I’ve been grateful for years,” he recounted.
He said he was surprised that Stonebwoy tagged him an ungrateful person so, he sent him a text after the interview to tell him it was wrong to say he (Kelvyn Boy) was or has been ungrateful but his text was ignored.
“I was surprised. I texted him right after the interview. I texted him saying I loved everything about the interview but the part he said I am ungrateful, he knows I am not ungrateful and I’ll never be ungrateful. He couldn’t reply that. He was asking for the contract.”
He added that he called so many times to apologize to Stonebwoy but he refused to pick up.
