Michael Elliot Kwabena Okyere Darko popularly known as Obrafour does not believe that Ghana has a music industry.
Although a number of organizations are known to be record labels who are signing and churning out recognized artistes, the highlife/rap artiste does not consider them qualified enough.
In a promotional video for Citi TV’s Hall of Fame, to be aired on Saturday, and sighted by ghanaweekend.com, the rap executioner told show host AJ Sarpong that he does not know if what exists in Ghana can be described as an industry.
He said factors that make an industry including marketing structures, record labels, and many others are not available.
“I don’t know if we have an industry. I don’t know if we can beat our chest and then say that there is an industry. I think the right structures in place are not there; marketing structures, good record labels as an industry should have a regulatory body,” he said.
“If you look at what we’re doing now and you think there is an industry, it is up to yourself,” he added.
