Gospel artiste, Joyce Blessing who is known for featuring secular music artistes has explained her reason for her actions.
According to the, ‘I swerve’ singer, gospel artistes have disappointed her a couple of times she tried to get them to feature on her songs hence her conviction.
She said in one instance, the musician’s manager charged an outrageous amount on behalf of the artiste which she later found out was solely the decision of the manager.
She was interviewed on DayBreak Hitz and she took her time to explain her experiences over the years in the music industry.
She said one time she had to book a studio, get prepared to get the collaboration through but the said gospel artiste didn’t make the collaboration happen.
The artiste in this story she said is a known artiste but she refused to mention names adding that “I’m not going to mention any name and I didn’t say I’ll never do songs with gospel artistes but what I’m saying is that the way the secular musicians accept you, the way they love your ministry is very higher than my colleagues in the gospel”
After mentioning some gospel musicians she did songs with, she said “It’s not the first time this is happening. It’s been so many times. And the secular musicians themselves invite me to do a collaboration on their beat. Even Shatta Wale, recently asked that we do gospel and I was so happy about that. Aside from him, Article Wan, I have a song with Efya too. They welcome me”
“If there’s the need to do God’s work at a time and a colleague in the same field is not ready to do it and a secular musician is ready to do the gospel, why not?”
“I can’t mention names and like I said, I’m talking because it’s not one or two times (this is happening). I remember a certain musician also from Ghana, we were doing a collaboration from Nigeria and we contacted the musician’s manager and the huge amount he demanded, later I realized that wasn’t the amount the artiste requested and at the end of the day, I found out months later that the artiste went behind me to go do the collaboration” she concluded.
