Yvonne Okoro has called for laws to be put in place to revive the Ghanaian movie industry.
According to the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards Best actress, telenovelas are the cause of the declining patronage and the survival of the Ghana Movie industry.
She suggests that the situation be regulated and that when that is done, the demand for Ghanaian movies will be high.
Speaking to Nana Romeo on Accra FM’s AyekooAyekoo show, she said the industry needs funding as well as laws to get works monetized.
“I think funding and aside funding which is very very important, we also need statues which are laws that will regulate how many types of movies that are shown,” she said.
“We cannot say telenovelas should be banned. It’s not right so what we can say is maybe 30 per cent of movies of feature films or series should be telenovelas so every network or television station must show per cent of Ghana Ghanaian movies,” she stated.
“So when it’s regulated and monetized and monitored of course then that is how the industry will be revived” she added
The talented actress has featured in so many notable movies including ‘Potomanto’, ‘4Play’, ‘The Game’ among others.
