Highlife artiste, Dada Hafco has said he does good and ‘sensible’ songs so he can leave a legacy behind.
He said fans have advised him to drop the ‘sensible songs’ and do what the streets like so that he can rake in some money.
However, according to him, the thought that doing sensible songs do not generate money is a “warped way of thinking”.
“For me, I don’t believe so. I think music is supposed to educate, entertain and inform so if a good song cannot bring me what I want then what else? Then it means the industry is corrupted,” he Zion Felix asked him on the ‘Uncut’ show.
“But I want to be part of the revolution. I want to be part of the artistes who constantly do sensible songs to be able to leave a legacy behind” he added.
He made reference to Daddy Lumba and said he wants his songs to be treated like his are in this day.
“Because I want my song to be played ten years from today just like we play Lumba’s song now and people are purely entertained even though some of the songs are as old as 20/25 years. I want to be that type of artiste”
He, however, added that people are beginning to believe in good music and he gets solace from the appellations he gets from the gurus in the industry.
“Sensible songs are all I can do. I can’t drop it for the usual ones” he concluded.
