Gospel artiste, Sonnie Badu has said Ghanaian youth are fond of using the little airtime they have on their phone to get on social media to insult adults.
This comes off the backlash he received after making a comment about Ghana’s International Airport needing a name change or the country will know no peace.
In a Facebook live video, he explained why he made the comment and addressed the issue saying from a spiritual point, it is wrong to name the airport after a betrayer.
While explaining, he quizzed, “what are we doing as the youth of Ghana?”
He said the Ghanaian youth chooses social relevance over respect and if it meant coming online even when they live in ‘dumsor’.
He made reference to the Nigerian youth who he said respect their elders while Ghanaian youth, instead of taking advice from people who have made a name for themselves, they would rather choose to adore outsiders and disrespect their own.
“I’m working hard to get Ghana on the map, get Africa on the map. You get the youth who has a little credit left on their phone and they quickly start texting insults. Quick insults yet they probably don’t have lights at home.
“Instead of them to ask ‘how are you doing and how can we get there, they’re quick to do it and insults but it’s fine. Like I always say, I don’t live there so I could say I don’t really care but I care about Ghana. I’m very concerned about Ghana. Ghana is our motherland. Ghana is Africa”
