Gyedu Blay-Ambolley has complained about how short 72 hours is a time for him to retract his comments and apologize to Okyeame Kwame.
On February 26, 2020, Okyeame Kwame gave Gyedu-Blay Ambolley 72-hour ultimatum to either retract a ‘defamatory comment’ he made about him and apologise on the same medium he made the comment or face the law.
This comes on the back of a comment he made while speaking on 3FM.
He alleged that he had evidence that proved former president of Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Bice Osei Kuffuor (Obour) gave Okyeame Kwame and other musician friends of his GHS 50,000 each from the GHS 2 million given to the union by the government in 2012.
After the notice was served, Gyedu Blay noted that he needs more than the stipulated time to either apologize or retract his comment.
Speaking to MzGee on 3FM’s Showbuzz on Thursday, he clarified that he is not ready to apologize within the given time and that he will need to get his ‘evidence’ and act from there.
When he was asked if he was ready to retract his statement and apologize, he replied: “Not yet.”
“It’s something that happened. If he says he did not receive anything, let him say he didn’t receive anything. But I know those who surrounded Obour, some monies were issued to them.” he reiterated.
He also disclosed that after the notice was served, he reached out to Okyeame Kwame to ask that the 72 hours be extended- “We spoke and I told him that a week after, I would come back to him because I know that some things happened there… If he wants to take it to court, he can. He is part and parcel of those that were surrounding Obour. Like he said, he was with Obour for two years. If he says he didn’t receive it, that’s fine,” Ambolley stated.
