Rapper Edem has expressed disappointment in creative predecessors for not seeing to it that the system favours artistes years after they have become inactive.
Old musicians resorting to begging of alms and seeking help during hard times which s usually after they take a break from music has become almost a norm.
Many times, young musicians, organisations and politicians have to come to the aid of suffering musicians because the music industry does not have a system that caters for the aged or retired creatives.
Adding his voice to the call on the need for a system that allows creatives to benefit from their craft and hard work long after they retire, Edem noted that “every artiste in Ghana is hungry” because the coronavirus pandemic has frozen opportunities of making money.
According to the ‘Nyedzilo’ hitmaker, the predecessors did not do well for the industry, they only pride themselves in “kissing ass and going to sleep.”
In view of that, he warned people against saying artistes are rich adding that “making money in your Prime is easy. Your hard work taking care of you when you grow is what’s most important.”
“From today I don’t want to hear anybody say Artiste are Rich..Making money in your Prime is eaay..Your hard work taking care of you when u grow is what’s most important …All the people before us..Trust me you ppl all do we yawa..For kissing ass and going to sleep,” he tweeted.
