South African rapper, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, known professionally as AKA has advised Africans abroad to return home to put an end to racism and police killings.
A new case of police killing on Monday in Minneapolis has resurfaced the issue of police mishandling and killing of unarmed blacks.
George Floyd, 47, died shortly after Derek Chauvin knelt on the back of his neck, pinning him to the ground for eight minutes and 46 seconds – almost three minutes of which was after Mr Floyd became non-responsive.
Derek was fired alongside three other officers who were at the scene.
After firing him, he has been charged with third-degree murder.
Since the death, there have been protests in all forms, starting from peaceful walks to burning of police vehicles and looting of shops.
This experience has spread into other states while celebrities have joined in with social media protest of signing a petition to get justice for George.
Reacting to the issues, AKA tweeted, “African Americans … come home. Simple as that.”
Tweeps seem not to agree with him but he continues to explain saying: “If all those athletes and movie stars and business people just moved to South Ahh … we could all just be nice and soft together.
“Why are you disappointed that I propose they resettle and invest in Africa? Is it their influence on global culture? Hip Hop, movies, Sport? Which one is the issue?” he added.
African Americans … come home. Simple as that.
