Ghanaian artiste, Becca has asked people who find her tweet on racism and hypocrisy of the African offensive to not take her comment out of context.
In a tweet yesterday, she noted that Africans criticise and judge their fellows who marry people from tribes different from theirs yet they have joined the USA in the fight against racism after George Floyd was murdered by the police in Minneapolis.
“You are here in Africa fighting and advocating racism in the US but in your church/home, you are criticizing and judging someone for marrying a fellow African because they are not from your hometown/country/church… Damn Hypocrites,” she tweeted.

Her followers on twitter were quick to remind her that no one is murdered for tribal marriages and that the two situations cannot be compared.
One of such people who did not agree with her is actress Ama K Abebrese who said: “Sis they are both wrong, however, it’s incomparable to equate the fight for the systemic racism in the USA to African tribalism in marriage and hypocrisy. You can highlight that without appearing to diminish the fight about police brutality. Murder is not marriage. Love always.”
In a different tweet on Thursday, June 4, Becca defended her earlier tweet saying: “Racism affects all of us disregarding the color of our skin. As Africans, one of our biggest history is racism and it’s time we put this to an end.
“However, as Africans back home, what are we doing to combat xenophobia, tribalism, nepotism and common differences? So my earlier tweet should not be taken out of context.”
“The racial killing, police brutality, rape, bullying and all forms of violence still going on around the world is very disgraceful, to say the least and we all as human beings not just black and white must empathize because it concerns us all,” she added.
