Ghanaian Wordplay comedian, Ajeezay has disclosed that he uses his style of wordplay in his career because he wanted to be unique.
According to him, this is not a common style in Ghana and therefore he chose that to stand out.
“I wanted to be unique and stand out amongst my peers,” he said on Citi TV’s 30 Minutes show when he was interviewed via zoom alongside Nigeria’s Josh2Funny.
“Nobody does it in Ghana,” Ajeezay added.
Ajeezay the Nonfa King recently expressed shock at a deliberate attempt by some Nigerians to lay claim over a comic trend he created.
He had said he was the original creator of the ‘Don’t Leave Me’ challenge: a challenge involving wordplay where people merge names of different items or situations to create other words or concepts in a funny way.
The trend which is all over Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, has been attributed to Nigerian comedian, Josh2Funny.
The first video of the challenge showed Josh and his comic partner, Bello Kred trying to project their intellect on the audience using a leaf.
According to Ajeezay, this has been his style of comedy since he stepped the threshold of the comedy industry.
