It is not a secret that most sports personalities have a thing for music.

While some do music as a side job or just for the fun of it, others actually get into when they retire from active sports. Aside from dancing on the field, they also do well in music videos.

Ghanaian player Asamoah Gyan, is the first sports personalities whose name comes to mind in this regard.

Known in showbiz circles as Baby Jet. He is known for introducing new dance every time he scored a goal but is a musician when he is not on the field.

He has starred in a number of music videos as well as feature on songs. He might have broken our hearts a couple of times with his over the bar shoots but he does not miss on songs.

Here is a list of all-time beautiful music videos that featured sports personalities.

Stonebwoy

Afrobeats artiste also known as 1Gad featured Togolese International footballer, Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor on his hit song ‘Putuu’. Stonebwoy explained the title of the song as Pray Until The Unexpected Unravels. The colourful video was released on August 23, 2020.

M.anifest
Rapper M.anifest released a song titled Azumah Nelson. As usual, he did wordplay, ‘big brofo’ and whose face will complement the video? Your guess was right! The great boxer, Azumah Nelson himself. The music video was released on July 19, 2018.

Castro

Singer Castro who went missing on July 6, 2014, in Ada would always be remembered for his nice singing voice and songs. He featured Asamoah Gyan on more than one song. His bond with the footballer was solid. On that unfortunate day, he was in the company of Asamoah Gyan and a girl named Janet Bandu. She went missing along with Castro. He featured Asamoah Gyan on African Girls (video released on February 1 2014), Do the dance ft K2 (Video released on February 6 2014) and ‘Odo Pa’ featuring Kofi Kinaata and of course Baby Jet (video released in September 2013).

Anaanu Shaka

After starring the finest Black Stars in his video in 2013, barely anything has been heard of him till date. He tactfully selected John Boye, Fatau Dauda, Baffour Gyan (former Blackstar player) Asamoah Gyan, Castro, Isaac Vorsah and Rabiu Mohammed for the song titled ‘Accelerator down’. The video was released on 22 May 2013 to motivate Ghanaians to throw support behind the Black Stars while they geared towards the world cup qualifiers right up to the Brazil 2014.

Sarkodie

The rapper starred Sulley Ali Muntari in his hit song, ‘You go kill me’. This song remains one of the songs that sold the azonto vibe. He released it in December 2012 featuring EL.

Which other songs do you think should be on the list? let us know.
