Wendy Shay has said on Zylofon FM that she knew she would not win any award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) because the board had their favourites.
She however said that she did not do a lot of work in 2020 as compared to the previous years.
“Everybody knows that I have worked really hard this time but definitely as compared to how my songs like Uber Driver fared, and last year because of the pandemic, it cannot be compared to those times. I was nominated but I kinda knew I was not gonna get it because there are some people who are more favourites,” she told Sammy Flex on ‘Showbiz Agenda.’
She said because of this, she thought asking her fans to vote for her would be a fruitless venture.
Talking about her assessment of awards schemes in Ghana, she said they are doing their best but both Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and 3Music Awards are the same.
“They are like NDC and NPP,” she added.
She was nominated in the Best Afrobeat/Afropop Song of the Year award with her song ‘Emergency’, and Best Afrobeat/Afropop Artiste of the Year.
Wendy Shay is currently promoting her ‘Shayning Star’ album.
