Ghanaian rapper from the Volta Region, Agbeko, has fired at Edem for diluting Ewe rap.
Speaking to DJ Ashmen on Native Television, Agbeko, known in private life as Bismark Agbeko Yakah, said some musicians who are supposed to be projecting the Ewe culture are rather corrupting it with foreign influence.
“He [Edem] just messed the whole thing up. This is not how we planned it. This is not how Ewe rap should go. We don’t slur Ewe rap,” he said.
Agbeko admitted that Edem raps well, but is originally a dance hall artiste who diverted to rap.
He, therefore, advised the Volta Regime boss to leave the Ewe rap for the ‘real’ rappers to pursue.
There seems to be a long-standing beef between the two Ewe rappers, even though Agbeko has said on several occasions that there is no bad blood between them.
In 2018, Edem expressed his hate for Agbeko, who he claimed had been ungrateful to him.
“I have had a beef with Agbeko in the past. He is never going to be my friend and if I catch him dying, I wouldn’t save him.”
Rapper Edem and Agbeko were both signed to the renowned producer, Hammer’s Last Two record label, sometime back.
Agbeko is well known for his song titled ‘Wotome’.
