Since the nominations for the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards were released about a week ago, a lot of people have questioned why music duo R2bees was not nominated.
R2Bees released ‘Back to the Basics’ album last year and has a number of hit songs.
But according to the RO of Charterhouse, Robert Klah, even though R2bees deserved nomination, they did not want to be part of the scheme.
“R2bees did not file for nomination. Neither were we able to get consent from them to feature their works on the nomination list,” he said on Hitz FM.
This year, the organisers of the awards ‘rested’ the ‘Group of the Year’ category due to lack of competitiveness and number of active groups.
For the past few years, the category has been limited to just about 3 groups; hence the decision to take it out till further notice.
