South African DJ and producer Black Coffee won his first Grammy Award at the 64th Grammy Awards held on April 3, 2022.
He won in the category Best Dance/Electronic Album for ‘Subconsciously.’
Ghanaian music producer C-Tea Beat who worked on the song ‘Flava’, taken off the album, has been credited for his contribution.
According to the Grammy Awards definition for the category, “the award goes to the artist, producer and engineer/mixer, provided they worked on more than 50% of playing time on the album. A producer or engineer who worked on less than 50% of playing time, as well as a mastering engineer, can apply for a Winners Certificate.”
This means that C-Tea will still be recognised and acknowledged as a contributor to the Black Coffie’s body of work.
To the Ghanaian music community, this is a big win for creativity, as many people have congratulated the enterprising music producer for his work on the album.
