Nigerian music stars Wizkid, Asake, Tems and Burna Boy have secured major nominations for the 2026 BET Awards.
The nominations were announced on Tuesday, May 19, ahead of the awards ceremony scheduled for June 28, 2026, in Los Angeles, United States.
Tems emerged as one of Africa’s most nominated artistes this year after earning three nominations — Best Female R&B/Pop Artiste, BET Her Award for her song “First,” and the Viewers’ Choice Award for “Raindance,” her collaboration with British rapper Dave.
Wizkid and Asake also landed a joint nomination in the Best Group category following their successful collaborations and string of hit releases over the past year.
Burna Boy earned a nomination in the Best Collaboration category for “WGFT,” his feature on American rapper Gunna’s track.
Nigerian entertainers also made strong appearances in the acting categories, with Ayo Edebiri and Cynthia Erivo receiving nominations for Best Actress, while Damson Idris earned a Best Actor nod.
Nigeria continues to maintain a strong presence at the BET Awards, with artistes such as Davido, 2Baba, D’banj, Ice Prince and Ayra Starr previously receiving honours at the awards scheme.
