Sir John’s will has taken over social media trends after a page of it, which named portions of protected lands as belonging to him, was leaked online.
It later emerged that the former Forestry Commission boss had acquired some portions of the Achimota Forest and some Ramsar (protected) sites, registered them as his personal properties and willed to his family members “forever.”
Many Ghanaians (including celebrities) have expressed their shock over the content of the will which names houses, lands, market stalls, gold production investments and money in local and foreign banks.
The document also included fuel stations, 13 private vehicles, 10 fuel tankers and five pump action guns.
Sir John died on July 1, 2020, of Covid-19-related complications while on admission at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
His last will was prepared on May 21, 2020.
This is what some Ghanaian celebs and influencers had to say about the ongoing conversation:

Honestly though, if Sir John owns that much land in Achimota Forest and Ramsar, I bet he’s not the only one. Be like they already share the forest finish ooo! What a country!

So Sir John used his own mining company, Fasoh Limited which mines gold in another forest reserve, to donate a Pick Up to Forestry Commission of which he was CEO and congratulated the company (himself) at the presentation of the vehicle for a ‘important gesture’.
