Four Ghanaian artistes have earned nominations in Nigeria’s Headies Awards.

The scheme mentions Gyakie, KiDi and Amaarae in the Best West African Artiste of the Year category.

They were nominated alongside Angelique Kidjo of Benin,  Aya Makamura of Mali and Nelson Freitas of Cape Verde.

The Academy states that the category is for artists of West African descent with the most outstanding achievements and impact across Africa in the year under review.

Nektunez has landed two nominations in the upcoming Headies: the Viewers’ Choice category and the Best Street Hop Artiste category.

The nominated Ghanaian artistes have been very prominent with their music and artistry on the Nigerian music scene and the entire African music market in recent times.

Their songs have pushed them onto international platforms, earning them a lot of spurs in that regard.

The Headies is a music awards scheme established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry.

The annual ceremony features performances by established and promising artists.

The Headies Awards show is slated for 4th September this year in the US.
